I LOVE open-source stuffs.
Someone, somewhere figured, 'Hey...do people just have tons and tons of money to spend on things they might only use once? You know, I don't think they do.' and BOOM...cool things get made free.
What I'm particularly happy about TODAY is the open-source venue for commercial fonts.
Wait...THERE ARE RULES!?
I can't just use ANY font I download from ANYWHERE on ANYTHING I want to?
No, you can't.
...bummer right?
We all know DAFont (http://www.dafont.com/, if you don't) and most all of the fonts on that site can be used non-commercially.
Non-Commercially being that you are NOT allowed to sell what you put them on).
...so what CAN I use?
If you want to make something that has text that you can SELL, it's a little harder to find appropriate fonts that you can use LEGALLY.
I know I don't have $30 just to spend on pretty letters; Do you?
Though, I guess if you've knowingly been using fonts ILLEGALLY, you don't have to worry about such things...and are probably not even reading this anyway.
Luckily, there are some great sites out there for fonts that you can actually use on things you want to sell.
There is an exponential (and my math teacher said I'd never use that word!) number of these types of sites on the intertubes; These are just a few.

Take notice that some of these sites also have pages and sections where they DO sell commercial fonts that you have to pay for.
Remember that you should NEVER have to pay for a font that claims to be "free for commercial use". If you are taken to a page with a $, you're simply in the wrong section.
The "Home" button should show a clear link to the free commercial fonts.
That's it for the short list. You should only have 9,999,999 more things to worry about, but finding free commercial fonts to use is not one of them!
